ELECTRIC START CONVERSION KITS
At OZ WIDE STARTERS, we are also Australia`s only manufacturer of Electric Start Conversion Kits for outboard engines. We have been developing and building new kits for outboards since 2015 and have considerable range of kits to suit Yamaha, Mercury and Tohatsu in both 2 stroke and 4 stroke models. Unfortunately, we do not make kits for Evinrude, Johnson, Honda or Suzuki. Our kits are designed to convert a manual start tiller steer outboard to fully functioning electric start tiller steer. Every kit is designed and built to exacting standards and are sold as a comprehensive kit with every component needed excluding a battery. These are NOT just a box of loose parts. Typically, each kit contains components such as a new starter motor, starter mounting bracket, new starter solenoid, neutral safety switch and switch mounting bracket, new or remanufactured flywheel, start button, inline fuse, new regulator/rectifier to charge battery, new marine spec tinned copper double insulated battery leads, bolts, washers, zip ties and a detailed installation manual written in plain english with step by step photos. All kits maintain the rope start facility in the unlikely event of a flat battery. After conversion, externally the outboards look the same as before except for the addition of a start button and the battery leads. Typically, our kits take between 60 - 90 minutes to install and can be installed by anyone with moderate mechanical capabilities, but we would prefer to have it installed by a marine mechanic and are more than happy to refer you to someone in your area. Please bear in mind that there are several of the kits we will require the old manual flywheel back on exchange. In these instances, we will only sell these kits through a network of marine dealers and repairers throughout Australia.
